It exists for one reason: Claude Pro, Max, and Team plans — plus OpenAI Codex, xAI Grok, and Cursor accounts — come with rolling usage limits that are hard to see coming, and hitting one mid-task wastes hours. CUStats is a native macOS menu bar app that shows your remaining Claude, Codex, Grok, and Cursor capacity in real time: live countdowns when you hit 100% usage, pace predictions so you know whether a long task will fit in your window, session history with trend charts, and multi-account support for personal and work profiles. CUStats Go brings the same visibility to iOS with home screen widgets and smart notifications; Android support is in development. The project is built on a privacy-first philosophy. Credentials are encrypted locally with AES-GCM on macOS and stored in the Keychain on iOS. There is zero telemetry or analytics — no data leaves your device except to authenticate with Claude.ai, OpenAI Codex, xAI Grok, or Cursor services. Both apps are one-time purchases from Apple's app stores (macOS from $9.99, iOS from $8.99 in the US; prices vary by region) — no subscription, no in-app purchases. ## Links - Website: - Download for macOS: - Download CUStats Go for iOS: - Contact: ## Contact (/contact.md) # Contact CUStats Support, bug reports, feature requests, and general questions about CUStats (macOS) and CUStats Go (iOS) are handled through the following channels: ## Support and bug reports - GitHub feedback repository: — open an issue using the provided templates for bugs, feature ideas, or general feedback. - Email: ## Before contacting support - Check the FAQ: — most questions about pricing, authentication, multi-account setup, and supported plans are answered there. - Check the changelog: — your issue may already be fixed in a newer release. - When reporting a bug, include your macOS or iOS version, the app version, the provider affected (Claude, OpenAI Codex, xAI Grok, or Cursor), and what you expected versus what happened. ## Refunds Refunds are handled through Apple's standard App Store refund process. We collect minimal data necessary for the app to function: - **Credentials:** Your Claude session token, Anthropic API key, OpenAI Codex, xAI Grok, or Cursor credentials are stored locally on your device only, encrypted using AES-GCM before storage. - **Usage Data:** Usage information is fetched directly from Claude/Anthropic, OpenAI Codex, xAI Grok, and Cursor services and displayed locally. We do not store, log, or transmit this data elsewhere. - **Preferences:** App settings (theme, refresh interval) are stored locally in macOS user defaults. ## Data Storage All data is stored locally on your Mac: - Encrypted credentials: `~/Library/Application Support/ClaudeUsageStatus/` - App preferences: macOS UserDefaults (standard app preferences) Your credentials are encrypted using AES-GCM (Advanced Encryption Standard with Galois/Counter Mode), a secure encryption standard. The encryption key is derived from your system and stored securely. ## Data Transmission The app only communicates with: - **claude.ai** — to fetch your usage data (session token authentication) - **api.anthropic.com** — to fetch usage data (API key authentication) - **chatgpt.com / auth.openai.com** — to authenticate and fetch OpenAI Codex usage data - **xAI Grok** — to authenticate and fetch Grok usage data - **Cursor** — to authenticate and fetch Cursor usage data **No data is ever transmitted to any other servers.** We do not collect analytics, telemetry, crash reports, or any other information. There are no third-party SDKs or tracking services in the app. ## Security Measures - Credentials encrypted with AES-GCM before local storage - No plain-text credential storage - All API communications use HTTPS - App is sandboxed (when run from App Store) - Open source code for full transparency ## Cookies & Analytics (Website Only) This section applies to our website (custats.info), not the macOS app. The CUStats app itself contains no cookies, analytics, or tracking. On our website we use essential cookies (required for form submissions and remembering your cookie preferences) and Google Analytics, loaded only after you provide consent. Analytics collects pages visited and time spent, general location (country/city level), device type and browser, and how you found our site. We do NOT collect personal identifying information, email addresses (unless you submit a form), or any data from the CUStats app. ## Your Rights (GDPR & CCPA) Depending on your location you have rights of access, rectification, erasure, portability, objection, and withdrawal of consent. CUStats is a one-time purchase from the Mac App Store. No subscriptions, no in-app purchases, no hidden fees. Buy once, use forever. Price may vary by region. ### Is my data safe? Absolutely. Your credentials are encrypted locally on your Mac using AES-GCM encryption. We collect zero telemetry or analytics — no data ever leaves your computer except to authenticate with Claude.ai, OpenAI Codex, xAI Grok, or Cursor services. ### How do I authenticate? CUStats supports Claude using your claude.ai session token (the sessionKey cookie), OpenAI Codex using tokens from ~/.codex/auth.json after `codex login`, xAI Grok using tokens from ~/.grok/auth.json after `grok login`, and Cursor using the WorkosCursor cookie from cursor.com (or, on Mac, Test Connection after signing in to Cursor.app). It's secure, simple, and doesn't require API keys. ### How do I get my Claude session token (or OpenAI Codex / Grok / Cursor credentials)? In CUStats or CUStats Go, open Settings → Add Account → Claude, then follow the same steps shown under the field: - Go to claude.ai - Log in if you aren't already - Right-click the page and choose Inspect - Open the Application tab (Storage in Safari) - Cookies → expand → select claude.ai - Type sessionKey in the filter field - Copy the Value and paste it into the session token field For Codex, run `codex login` and paste tokens.access_token and tokens.refresh_token from ~/.codex/auth.json. For Grok, run `grok login` and paste access_token and refresh_token from ~/.grok/auth.json. For Cursor, paste the WorkosCursor cookie from cursor.com (on Mac you can also click Test Connection after signing in to Cursor.app). Cursor cookies do not refresh. [View detailed setup guide →](/#how-it-works) ### What platforms are supported? CUStats is available on macOS 13.0 (Ventura) or later. CUStats Go, our mobile companion app, is now available on the iOS App Store for iOS 16+, with Android coming soon. ### What is CUStats Go? CUStats Go is the mobile companion app for iOS (now available on the App Store) and Android (coming soon). It features home screen widgets with auto-refresh, smart notifications for usage thresholds and resets, multi-account support with secure Keychain storage, and the same privacy-focused approach as the macOS app. ### Is there a refund policy? Yes, refunds are handled through Apple's standard App Store refund process. If you're not satisfied, you can request a refund within the App Store's refund period. ### How do I redeem an Apple Store code? You can redeem a promo code or gift card for CUStats on both macOS and iOS. On macOS (Mac App Store): - Open the App Store app on your Mac - Click your name or the sign-in button at the bottom of the sidebar - Click "Redeem Gift Card or Code" - Enter your code (or use your camera to scan it) - Click "Redeem" to download CUStats - On iOS (App Store): Open App Store → tap your profile icon → tap "Redeem Gift Card or Code" → enter or scan your code - Codes are case-sensitive and must be entered exactly as provided - Once redeemed, CUStats will be available for download immediately - The app will be tied to your Apple ID and can be downloaded on all your devices If you encounter an error, make sure the code hasn't already been used and that it's valid for your region. Contact Apple Support if you need help with redeeming. ### Is CUStats secure with App Sandbox? Yes! CUStats runs in Apple's App Sandbox for maximum security. This means: - Network access is limited to Claude.ai, OpenAI Codex, xAI Grok, and Cursor service calls only - Credentials are encrypted and stored in a protected container - No access to arbitrary files on your Mac - All data stored locally with AES-GCM encryption App Sandbox is Apple's security technology that protects your data by limiting what apps can do. ## Features ### What is the Live Session Dashboard? The dashboard provides a comprehensive view of your Claude, OpenAI Codex, Grok, and Cursor usage with four sections: Live Session (real-time stats and current usage), History (past sessions and trends), Settings (configuration), and About. Access it by clicking the dashboard button in the menubar popover. ### How does Session History work? CUStats automatically tracks your usage over time. Each session is recorded with snapshots showing your usage progression. You can view trend charts, consumption peaks, and filter by time period (day, week, month). History is stored locally on your Mac. ### Can I set up automatic updates? Yes! In Settings, you can configure scheduled triggers to automatically refresh your usage data. Set specific times or intervals for automatic updates so you always have current information. ### What is Pace? Pace is a predictive metric that estimates your weekly usage at reset time based on your current consumption trend. Instead of just showing your current usage percentage, Pace projects where you'll be at the end of the week. This helps you know proactively whether you're on track to stay within your limit or if you're heading toward exceeding it. ### How is Pace calculated? Pace uses a simple linear projection based on your current usage and time elapsed in the week. Real-world example: - Current usage: 40% - Time elapsed since week started: 3 days (72 hours) - Time remaining until reset: 4 days (96 hours) - Usage Rate = 40% ÷ 72 hours = 0.556% per hour - Projected Usage = 40% + (0.556% × 96) = 40% + 53.3% = 93.3% - Your Pace is ~93% — this is in the Risky range (90-100%) - Pace assumes you started the week at 0% usage - It calculates your usage rate: Current Usage % ÷ Time Elapsed Since Week Started - It projects forward: Projected Usage = Current % + (Usage Rate × Time Remaining) - If you have no usage data yet, Pace is 0% (you'll end the week with 0% used) Pace works from the moment you start using the service — no minimum data required. It updates continuously as you use the service. ### How do I interpret Pace values? Pace shows your projected weekly usage as a percentage. Understanding the risk levels helps you manage your quota effectively. What to do based on your Pace: - If Healthy (< 90%): Continue your normal workflow — you have plenty of headroom - If Risky (90-100%): Reduce non-essential requests, defer large tasks, or batch work more efficiently - If Over (> 100%): Act immediately — significantly reduce usage or wait for your weekly reset - Plan proactively: Use Pace to schedule demanding tasks early in the week when you have more capacity - Track trends: Monitor how Pace changes over multiple weeks to identify seasonal patterns in your usage - Optimize timing: If Pace is risky, wait for the next cycle rather than pushing through - Healthy: Pace < 90% — You're consuming at a sustainable rate and won't hit your limit - Risky: Pace 90-100% — You're close to your limit; consider reducing non-essential usage - Over: Pace > 100% — At your current pace, you'll exceed your weekly limit before reset Pace resets weekly with your usage quota. It's designed as a planning tool to help you make informed decisions about your workload. ### Example: I have 5d 17h remaining and used 20%. What's my Pace? Let's walk through this scenario step-by-step using the exact Pace formula, then determine the right action. Step 1: Calculate your Pace value - Current usage: 20% - Time remaining until reset: 5 days 17 hours = 137 hours - Time elapsed since week started: 7 days − 5d 17h = 1 day 7 hours = 31 hours - Calculate usage rate: 20% ÷ 31 hours = 0.645% per hour - Apply the Pace formula: Projected Usage = Current % + (Rate × Time Remaining) - Projected usage: 20% + (0.645% × 137) = 20% + 88.4% = 108.4% - Final Pace value: ~108% (this is in the Over range, > 100%) - Status: Over ⚠️ — At your current consumption rate, you WILL exceed your weekly limit - Projected overshoot: You're on track to exceed by ~8% before reset - Usage rate: You're consuming 0.645% per hour (15.5% per day) - Action required: You need to reduce your usage rate to stay within limits - Step 2: What you should do with a 108% Pace - Act immediately — pause non-essential work to reduce your consumption rate - Calculate your target rate — to finish at exactly 100%, you need: (100% − 20%) ÷ 137h = 0.58%/hour - That means reducing your current rate (0.645%/hour) by about 10% to break even - To reach Healthy (< 90%): you need rate of (90% − 20%) ÷ 137h = 0.51%/hour (21% reduction) - Monitor closely — check your Pace after a few hours to see if reductions are working - Plan ahead — defer demanding tasks until after your weekly reset if possible Your 108% Pace means you're consuming too fast. The key insight: you used 20% in 31 hours. To stay under 100%, you can only use 80% more over 137 hours remaining — that's about 14% per day, but you're currently using 15.5% per day. ## Mobile App (CUStats Go) ### Where can I download CUStats Go? CUStats Go is now available on the iOS App Store. Search for "CUStats Go" or visit https://apps.apple.com/app/custats-go/id6757679404 to download. Android version is in development. ### What features does CUStats Go have? CUStats Go brings usage tracking to your mobile device with: - Home screen widgets (compact and medium sizes) with auto-refresh - Smart notifications for usage thresholds and reset times - Multi-account support with secure Keychain storage - Real-time status indicators (Good, Caution, Critical, At Limit) - Day, Week, and Month overview with charts - Dark mode support and fluid animations All data stays on your device. No analytics, no ads, no cloud sync required. ### Will my accounts sync between macOS and mobile? CUStats Go uses the same authentication methods as the macOS app — your Claude sessionKey cookie, Codex tokens from `codex login`, Grok tokens from `grok login`, and the WorkosCursor cookie (Mac can also use Test Connection). You'll need to set up your accounts on each device separately, as we don't sync data to the cloud to protect your privacy. ### How much does CUStats Go cost? CUStats Go is a one-time purchase from the iOS App Store (from $8.99 in the US), just like the macOS app. No subscriptions, no in-app purchases. Buy once, use forever. Price may vary by region. ## Troubleshooting ### Why am I not seeing usage data? This can happen due to a few reasons: Try these steps to resolve: - Click the refresh button a few times - Wait 10-15 seconds and try again - Check your credentials in Settings - Get a fresh session token from claude.ai or run `codex login` for OpenAI Codex - Your Claude session token or OpenAI Codex login may have expired - Temporary network connectivity issues - Your Claude account may not have access to usage data (requires Pro or Max) or your OpenAI Codex account may not have usage access enabled ### What should I do if the app stops working? Follow these steps to troubleshoot: - Click the refresh button 2-3 times to see if it recovers - Verify your session token is still valid in Settings - Check if claude.ai is accessible in your browser - Get a fresh session token if needed - Restart the app if nothing else works You can also check the app logs in the Dashboard Settings for technical details. ### I see "Usage data unavailable" or a 403 error. How can I verify my account has access? This error typically means your Claude account doesn't have access to usage data (requires Pro or Max subscription) or your OpenAI Codex account needs reauthentication. To verify your account access: - Log in to claude.ai in your browser - Open Developer Tools (Cmd+Option+I on Mac or F12) - Go to the Network tab - Click your profile icon → Settings → Usage section - Type "usage" in the Network tab filter to find the usage API request - Check the response status — 200 means your account has access, 403 means it doesn't If you see 403 or the Usage section is not available, you'll need to upgrade to Claude Pro or Max to use CUStats. For OpenAI Codex, run `codex login` again to refresh access. ### How does opening Claude Code or OpenAI Codex help? Opening Claude Code or the OpenAI Codex CLI can refresh your usage access. Here's why it works: - It activates background usage stats monitoring for your provider - It establishes fresh connections to Claude or OpenAI Codex services - It syncs your account data and session state - It usually resolves temporary connectivity or sync issues - You don't need to keep it open after activation # Changelog ## 1.7.0 (mobile) — August 25, 2026 **Cursor, Grok, iPad Layout & In-App Rating** Track Cursor and Grok alongside Claude and Codex, rate the app from About, try a one-tap demo, and use CUStats Go comfortably on iPad. - Cursor Tracking - Grok on iOS - iPad Support ### What's New - Cursor usage tracking — add Cursor as a fourth provider; usage shows on Live, All Accounts, and the home-screen widget - Grok (xAI) — connect Grok alongside Claude and Codex, and see the billing window as Weekly or Monthly - Rate CUStats Go from About — opens the App Store review page - Try Demo — preview sample data from the empty Live screen without adding an account - iPad — comfortable layout in portrait and landscape, with a side rail on wider screens - Clearer setup steps — numbered paste instructions when you add or reconnect Claude, Codex, Grok, or Cursor ### Fixed - Grok widget no longer shows 0% for a weekly value that is not available - In-app App Store link now opens the CUStats Go listing ## 1.19.0 (macos) — August 25, 2026 **Cursor Tracking & No Crash Reports** Cursor joins Claude, Codex, and Grok.
